Drilling Rigs

CNPC has over 40 years of experience in designing and manufacturing drilling rigs since 1970s. We produce various types of drilling rigs including AC VFD, DC, diesel engine and gear, chain, hydraulic and belt drive, truck-mounted and trailer-mounted series, ranging from 1,000 meters to 12,000 meters in drilling depth.

New technologies including disk brake, AC VFD, SCR, dynamic braking, automatic driller and integrated drilling meters have been applied.

Mud Pumps

CNPC produces a series of API7K-compliant mud pumps ranging from F-500 to F-2200. F-2200HL is a tri-cylinder, single-action, heavy-duty, high-pressure drilling pump with a maximum power of 2,200HP, maximum working pressure of 52MPa, and maximum displacement of 77.65L/s. CNPC owns the intellectual property rights of this modern and high-tech product.

06e6807b9eae4b09b0d7748b65149d1d  F-1300, F-1600, F-1300L and F-1600L mud pumps have a Max. pump pressure of 34.5MPa (5000Psi) and a displacement of 46.5L/S with a liner of Φ180mm. These two models are the first choice for medium and deep drilling rig as an assorted component.

06e6807b9eae4b09b0d7748b65149d1d  F-1600HL, F-2200HL mud pumps with high-power and high-pressure are developed to meet drilling requirements of offshore deep-water, terrestrial and horizontal wells, especially in desert areas.

06e6807b9eae4b09b0d7748b65149d1d  F1-800, F1-1600 light- weight series mud pumps are newly designed. Compared with same power F-series mud pumps, the advance of less volume and weight which are appropriate for the rigs working in swamp and helicopter-lifting rigs.

F-1600HL Drill Pump

F-1600HL drilling pump, developed and manufactured by CNPC Baoji Oilfield Machinery Co., Ltd. (BOMCO), is characterized by large displacement, high pressure and strong reliability. Its power end is almost the same withF-1600 pump, and its hydraulic end adopts an L-shaped structure, with displacement increased by 11.4% andmaximum pressure increased from 35MPa to 52MPa. F-1600HL drilling pump is mainly used in drillingoperations requiring large displacement and high pressure,such as drilling of cluster wells, extended reach wellsand horizontal wells, as well as high pressure jet drilling. It is adaptable to 7,000m and 9,000m onshore rigs andoffshore platform rigs.

Technical Features

  • The crank shaft is in even wall thickness and underwent cementing process simulation analysis, with forgingperformance and product quality improved greatly.
  • L-shaped hydraulic cylinders, including both suction and drain cylinders, are adopted, with the merits of highbearing capacity, and convenient replacement of suction and drain valves.
  • The simultaneous cooling equipment and technology for internal and external surfaces of thecylinder linergreatly improves the life cycle of the liner piston, which has been granted with invention patents of both USAand China.
  • It is equipped with both common and high pressure valves, among which common valve is used for largedisplacement, and high pressure valve is used for high drainage pressure (over 35MPa).
  • The exhaust air chamber shell and auxiliary drainage pipe use integrally forged pieces, with no weld joint andhigh reliability.
  • It is equipped with the suction air chamber canister without air pocket and with no need for gas charging,which has good function of balancing the suction pressure.
  • External forced lubrication plus splash lubrication is adopted, with great lubricating and cooling effect andhigh reliability. Its power end is designed to have an oil gathering box, which can further improve the splashoil gathering and lubricating effect of the power end.

Geosteering System   

CGDS-I, a near-bit geosteering system for well drilling, has been independently developed by CNPC. The CGDS-1 Near-bit Geosteering System has worked normally for 297 hours in the well bores of Liaohe Oilfield, satisfying the needs on the well site.

CGDS-I consists of the CAIMS (China Adjustable Instrumented Motor System), WLRS (Wireless Receiver System), CGMWD (China Geosteering MWD), and the CFDS (China Formation/Drilling Software System). CGDS-I has three major functions: logging/measurement, transmission and steering. The system's near-bit geological and engineering parameters and sensor-bit distance measured in industrial tests carried out at the Jidong and Liaohe oilfields reached or approached those of the world's other leading instruments in this field.

Precise PCD system

The system consists of a ground pressure control device (model PCDS-I and CQMPD-I) and downhole pressure logging-while-drilling (LWD) tools. In near- and under-balanced precise pressure controlled drilling (PCD), it monitors and controls the annular pressure and compensates for backpressure to avoid complex situations such as well kick and loss of circulating fluid in narrow windows of drilling fluid density.

The self-developed series liner hangers and accessories have been widely used in the major oilfields of PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC, as well as the overseas market in the Middle East, West Asia and North Africa.

Customerized tools and solutions are available, as per the hole structure, hole depth, downhole temperature and other special requirements as well.

A series of new tools have been developed in recent years, such as the rotary liner hanger, multi-stage frac tool, selective frac and controllable production tool, etc., and they all achieved excellent field applications.

BH-VDT5000 Vertical Drilling System

BH-VDT5000 vertical drilling system is a high-tech drilling tool developed based on international joint work and through self-innovation, with partial independent intellectual property rights. The performances of this system have been proven among the bests internationally.

The system has been used in 17 wells in Tarim Oilfield of China so far, and the hole deviations are all controlled within 0.5°, with ROP improved by 150% plus.

When the system was used in Keshen 2-2-9 and Dabei101-2 in 2012, it achieved a daily footage of 583m and a one-run footage of 2047m respectively, and the total working time in one run reached up to 262 hrs.

CT38, China's first coiled tubing operation machine, has been independently developed and field-tested by CNPC. According to the test, a prototype of CT38 delivers excellent overall maneuverability and can fully meet workover, well logging, well completion, and stimulation requirements. Construction of the first coiled tubing production line commenced at Baoji Petroleum Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. in December 2008. The line is designed to produce 15,000 metric tons of tubes annually with a diameter of 25.4mm to 88.9mm and wall thickness of 1.91mm to 6.35mm.

LG360/60T coiled tubing operation machine is mounted on two vehicles. With breakthroughs in eight aspects such as hydraulic control, clamping method, surface treatment of clamping blocks, wellhead blowout prevention systems, and chain synchronization, it can better cater for the road and well site conditions in oilfields of China. As a technical leader in the world, the machine enables staged fracturing, CT acidizing, sand washing and flushing, logging and testing, fishing, sidetracking, and other downhole operations.

BOMCO Horizontal Subsea Xmas Tree

Subsea Xmas tree is the core equipment in offshore oil & gas production system. Installed on subsea wellhead, the tree is used to connect and support tubing string, seal off casing pipes and casing-tubing annulus, isolate borehole fluids from external sea water, control wellhead production pressure, and adjust borehole flow rates. Also, the tree can be used for acid fracturing, water injection, and testing.

With proper integration of mechanical, hydraulic and electronic techniques, BOMCO Horizontal Subsea Xmas Tree features high automation and reliable performance. Meeting requirements specified in API 6A, API 17D, API 17H, NACE MR 0175 and other relevant standards, the tree can operate at water depth up to 1,500m, working pressures up to 69MPa and with designed service life of 20 years.

Top-Drive Casing Running Tool

CNPC’s BPM top-drive casing running tool, which integrates the mechanical parts and hydraulic parts, is used for casing running during oil & gas well cementing operation or used as the drive device for casing drilling. We have developed two series of such tool in two configurations (internal slip and external slip) suitable for running casings of different specifications (4-1/2″ to 20″) covered by standards such as ISO 11960, API 5CT, GB/T 19830 and SY/T 6194.

Functions

The tool operates in a mode whereby rotating, pulling & running and mud circulating are integrated. Lifting ring/slip double passage lifting and tiny-tooth-mark cog clamping are adopted. The on-site replaceable slip design broadens the clamping scope and enables the tool suitable for running casings of different specifications. The all-casing database intelligent software is introduced, so that the optimal clamping torque can be automatically set according to casing specification and the records can be automatically generated.

BPM top-drive casing running tool enables automated connection and running of the casing strings. It provides the force to rotate the casing and circulate the mud, reduces potential safety hazards caused by sticking or block during casing running, and enhances the success rate of casing running operation.

Applications

The equipment has worked excellently in staged fracturing, CT acidizing, sand washing and flushing, velocity string, SAGD well testing operations in Liaohe Oilfield, Dagang Oilfield, Jidong Oilfield, Changqing Oilfield, and Southwest Oil and Gas Field. For example, it successfully perforated 48 holes and fractured 4 layers in hydraulic jet fracturing operations in well Qiang-1-44-15 in Liaohe Oilfield. After being fractured, the well produced 13 tons of crude oil a day, 2.6 times as many as any of adjacent wells.
